The Idea my design started when I was thinking about doing something with Wisconsin UW Madison volleyball logo inside the Wisconsin W. Although there was no black and white logo for the Badgers Volleyball. Then I started to think about maybe just doing The W with Bucky inside or partly on it. It was very intricate so I didn't want to make it too small so that it would be too hard to cut out. I then got the idea of Having the W and Bucky on Wisconsin.
To create the design I started with blank 12x12 page in Illustrator. Then going onto google I went to look for a clip art of Wisconsin. Then coping and pasting into Illustrator. I then went to image trace and expanded it then changing the color to being all white. Then I went back to search for the Wisconsin W. Then again coping and pasting and again tracing and expanding it. I then went to change the color of the state and W. I picked Black as the state color and Red for the W. Then I went back to find a clip art image of Bucky and putting it into Illustrator on Wisconsin and part of the W. Then saving it to my flash drive I went down to the vinyl cutter and into illustrator cutting each part individually. Then I started to cut out the the edges of each vinyl sticking the the W and then Bucky onto transfer tape to put on each other. To put it on the notebook, when everything was together I then out that on the transfer tape, smoothing it out taking of off the paper that the whole vinyl in on. For it to be then pressed onto the notebook and having that as the finished product.
What I Learned
During this rotation in doing an individual vinyl I learned that you need to be sure of things before you start and do it. If so there could be no going back and then things are messed up. In this vinyl I started to cut out the parts for Bucky not realizing that they were wrong so he was weaved backwards. It does not look too bad but it now bugs me a little bit when I see it that I did it backwards. Another thing I learned is that it is always good to be ahead. I was getting ahead in the beginning and towards the end I had to wait a little bit to use the machine and then weave the designs then put them together took longer than expected. So I just had finished the design when our last class for this rotation was about over.
